Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview concludes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
